A Little Voice

Many of us feel that we’d like to do more, that we’d like to have a positive effect on the world as a way of living out our faith, putting it into action and passing on the love and grace that God has given us.

We look around the world and see many people and communities struggling under the burden of poverty or injustice and we feel called to get involved, to spend our time, energy and resources helping them through their struggles and breaking the chains that bind them.

Some people are able to give their time and skills to aid us in our work. In so doing, they vastly increase the scale of our work, and thus the number of people we reach. They are the leaven in the dough of their communities inspiring support among their friends and family. They are like Good Samaritans making time to help those in need.

They help in our office in Wonersh near Guildford, in their parishes, in local schools, by donating their social media skills, by organising events, by reporting on local activities, by speaking up for us or by helping us support our other volunteers.

They are a world-changing force, a lovely team of people and a tremendous help to us in our work. Our heartfelt thanks go to them.

And a heartfelt plea goes to all reading this. Would you like to join us? Do you feel in some way called to volunteer? Is there a little voice inside suggesting it’s worth getting in touch to see how you might be able to help? Please follow that voice.

“For me, utilising social media is crucial in order to reach a wider audience and get the message out to them about CAFOD’s great work especially at a local level. It is something I can easily incorporate into my hectic life at University and feel I am still making a difference.” Jack, communications volunteer in Northampton
