Many thanks to all our parish volunteers who organised a soup lunch or supper in their parish to raise money for CAFOD Lent fast day . Please send us details and photos of your soup event if you haven’t done so yet!
At Holy Spirit Church Fetcham 22 people attended the soup lunch and raised £82. Kathy Medlicott who made one of the soups said “Parishioners came together to remember those less fortunate than themselves.”
In St Edmund’s parish Godalming members of the Justice and Peace group did a sponsored 24 hour fast which ended with Stations of the Cross and a soup supper and raised over a £100. Julian, our parish volunteer at St Edmund’s said ” It was a lovely way to finish our 24 hour sponsored fast . The CAFOD stations of the Cross which reflected on the lives of Florence and Patrick from Zambia were very moving and prayerful. We then had two different soups one of which was a fish chowder (although I don’t think it contained any tilapia fish) to remind us of how Florence’s life was changed by becoming a fish farmer.”
Once again thank you to all our parish volunteers for everything you do to support CAFOD and help people lift themselves out of poverty. Could you volunteer for CAFOD in your parish?
