St Anne’s Chertsey Understanding CAFOD’ s Work

Libia Roldan-McRobb speaking about why she supports CAFOD.

On Sunday 12th February I was invited by Libia Roldan-McRobb our CAFOD parish volunteer at St Anne’s Church Chertsey to talk about CAFOD’s work, explain how donations are spent and how we work with partners in over 30 countries in the world. The meeting was well attended and Libia had provide activities for children so that families would be able to come as well. I also talked about Lent fast day and told the story of Florence from Zambia and how she had been supported by CAFOD’s partner who taught her the skills and gave her the materials she needed to become a fish farmer.

At the end of the meeting Libia spoke passionately about why she supports CAFOD “I get up in the morning and I can have a shower but there are people who don’t have access to clean water….. I can cook  breakfast for my family but there are people who don’t have enough food to feed their children and it is not fair. I want to make the world a fairer place for everyone.”

Many thanks to those who came to the meeting, and to Libia for organising the meeting and for baking the most delicious cakes!  Jo Lewry
