Use CAFOD’s prayer service to celebrate the Year of Mercy.

In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, we are called to contemplate God’s abundant love and to share compassion with our global family.

CAFOD have worked together with Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN) and Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS) to develop a Year of Mercy prayer service which particularly remembers refugees and migrants.

All we need is love

This is a great way contemplate God’s incredible love and inspire your community to share their compassion. The service can be done as a pilgrimage (outside the church, between churches, or inside such as a group may do the Stations of the Cross) or as a simple prayer service.

It can be led by a group of people and has been used by some parishes in the diocese (such as in St Leonard’s and Godalming) and uses simple props and ‘visuals’ to help people reflect and pray.

During the service people can be invited to write message of hope which CAFOD will share with refugees in the UK and around the world.

The Year of Mercy will officially come to an end on the 20th of November (the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe). Why not mark the occasion by arranging the prayer service for your fellow parishioners.

We can offer you use of our very own Lampedusa Cross to really bring the issue home. Do get in touch with us so we can make sure it is available for your service.
