Harvest is around the corner is harvest – a time for reaping the rewards of our labour and celebrating nature’s abundance and God’s loving provision.
Many churches and schools celebrate the occasion in different ways but all can take part in CAFOD’s Harvest Fast Day when we give up a meal or something similar, hold in our prayers those who go without food or other basics and donate money to help our work.
For CAFOD, harvest is a great opportunity to tell the catholic community about our work, about what we’re doing with the money they entrust to us, and to ask them to join in our mission of creating a world which resembles the Kingdom of God where all can flourish.
Our Parish Volunteers and team members are such an important part of this. They help remind their church about God’s beautiful gift of creation, they inspire their fellow parishioners to share what they have with those in need and they make it possible for us to continue our work throughout the world.
We always do our best to support our parish volunteers and those who and one of the ways we do this is to have a series of local meetings over a cup of tea (occasionally cake or croissants too) and let people know about the story of Fast Day, what materials are available and also give a general update about CAFOD and answer whatever questions people may have. People normally enjoy the meetings and appreciate the opportunity to get together. Why not come along?
The list of remaining meetings is below. Please do come to your nearest or come on whichever day you can make. It’s also useful to know you’re coming so do let us know. You can contact us at A&B volunteer Centre on 01483 898866 or email email@example.com Please do bring a friend or anyone you think might be interested in getting involved.
