Year of Mercy Pilgrimage at St Edmund’s Godalming

Lampedusa cross

On Wednesday 7th September St Edmund’s parish Godalming held a Year of Mercy Pilgrimage and wrote messages of hope for refugees in St Joseph’s Church, Milford.

” It was a lovely evening with time for quiet refection and the Lampedusa cross really brought home the plight of refugees.”

” The photos from the Lost Family Portraits helped me to pray for all those families fleeing for their lives from war-torn countries” said Mary Waight one of our CAFOD volunteers in St Edmund’s Parish.

At the end of the evening the parishioners wrote messages of hope that will be given to refugees. Many thanks to the Justice and Peace group at St Edmund’s parish for organising the pilgrimage.

On Saturday 17th September there is a Welcome Refugees service at St James RC Church, Spanish Place followed by a march in central London.

Would you like to organise a Year of Mercy Pilgrimage  or write messages of hope to refugees?

If you would like to borrow the Lampedusa cross for your parish or school to use please contact Martin or Jo at the A&B volunteer centre.
