Good Shepherd Parish holds Year of Mercy Prayer Service for Refugees in St Leonard’s

From Kevin and Linda, Parish Volunteers in St Leonard’s:

‘As part of our Parish Year of Mercy events, a Service of Prayer for Refugees was held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in the Parish of the Good Shepherd, St. Leonards-on-Sea on July 21st.

‘The Service, which was adapted from the CAFOD Refugee Solidarity Service, was described by those present as both prayerful and moving.

‘We were privileged to have the Lampedusa Cross as a focus for our Reflections and we also used the “Lost Family Portraits” display.  At the end of the Service, an opportunity was provided to write a “Message of Hope” to refugees.

The Service was well supported by both Parishioners and CAFOD contacts in St. Leonards Deanery.   At St. Thomas’ we are currently supporting the CAFOD Refugee Crisis Appeal.’

We are grateful to Kevin, Linda, the Parish of the Good Shepherd and the St Leonard’s Deanery group of volunteers for their generous, prayerful and loyal support.

Do let us know if you would also like to borrow the Lampedusa Cross for your parish or community during the Year of Mercy.
