A taste of Sri Lanka at St Pius X Merrow

Parishioners enjoying the Sri Lankan evening at St Pius X, Merrow.

“A great evening with superb food and good company” was the way that Alastair Anderson a CAFOD volunteer described the Sri Lankan evening that was held on Saturday 23rd April at St Pius X church hall as part of the Catholic Parish of Guildford. As well as selling tickets the organisers held a raffle featuring prizes such as  bottles of wine and  boxes of chocolates. At the end of the evening the fantastic amount of £1242.50 was raised for CAFOD’s Lenten appeal to raise money for water projects in Africa.

Special thanks to Sharmalene Fernando and her team who cooked all the delicious Sri Lankan dishes, to Nick Fox for organising the evening, and to the team of helpers who set up the hall and cleared away at the end of the evening. What an amazing team effort!
