Lent Lunches – a “souper” way to raise money

Proscovia collecting water for the newly mended well in her village

Lent lunches are a great way for parishes to come together to raise money for the CAFOD Lent appeal. Not only do they provide a simple lunch which parishioners can share in solidarity with those around the world who have less than ourselves but they also enable people to socialise together as a parish.

Brian and Kathy Medlicott from Holy Spirit Church, Fetcham have raised £180 from having Lent lunches, and this combined with the money raised from other events and including the fast day envelopes means that the Parish of Effingham and Fetcham have together raised a staggering £3,298.44 so that girls like Proscovia can finish their education and not spend hours each day collecting water for their family. Thank you so much to all those who organised and supported these events.

Many thanks to all those parishes in Arundel and Brighton Diocese who have been organising Lent lunches and raising money for CAFOD.

Please let us know how you have been raising money so that we can share and celebrate your fantastic achievements in our blog.
