Over sixty people attended the Memorial mass on the 21st November held at St Mary Magdalene church in Bexhill-on-Sea.
The mass was celebrated by Fr Davis Parmiter and during the Offertory the CAFOD book of Remembrance, containing the names of CAFOD supporters, their friends and family was presented to Fr David.
At the end of the mass Martin Brown the CAFOD Community Participation Coordinator for the Arundel and Brighton diocese remembered those from St Mary Magdalene parish who had died and were supporters of CAFOD especially Denis Lucey. He and his wife Christine had been active CAFOD volunteers in the parish for many years.
After mass everyone was invited to hall for refreshments, including Anne’s superb selection of cakes. There was a display celebrating the numerous CAFOD events held by the parish over the years which bought back happy memories for many. Despite the wet and windy weather we all enjoyed time to chat and socialise with friends old and new.
Many thanks to Fr David and the volunteers at St Mary Magdalene parish for hosting the mass and providing the refreshments, and for their unstinting support of CAFOD.
Also thanks to the CAFOD volunteers in the St Leonard’s Deanery for their help in organising the mass.
The memorial mass is a lovely way to remember and pray for all those who have supported CAFOD and are now partaking with Jesus in the “heavenly banquet” prepared for them.
