4th June:  Sacred Heart parish Cobham BBQ in aid of CAFOD (we will be filming this event so if you want to be famous…)

14th June: Understanding CAFOD morning at Holy Family Church Hall Lancing BN15 9BB from 11:30- 1pm followed by simple lunch

24th June: Refugee walk and mass at Worth Abbey

1st July: Understanding CAFOD afternoon at English Martyrs’ Church Horley RH6 8AR from 2:30- 4:30pm

1st-9th July: Speak up week of action on climate change organise a local event and invite your MP.

Friday 6th October Harvest Fast Day

2nd December: CAFOD retreat, St Cuthman’s, Coolham, West Sussex. The theme is ‘Romero’. All are welcome.

November: Mass of Remembrance. Venue and date TBC.

* Fr Peter Hughes is an Irish Columban priest from County Mayo who has spent most of his life as a missionary based in Lima, Peru.

As well as his work in some of the most desperately impoverished communities in Lima, Peter is an advisor to the Instituto Bartolome de las Casas, a centre for theological reflection and action working in programmes of leadership and social justice. He is a close collaborator of Gustavo Gutierrez and supports with the Peruvian bishops in developing programmes of social and pastoral action. From 2011-2015 Peter was the executive secretary of the Department of Justice and Solidarity of the Council of Latin American Bishops during which time he led the creation of the Church Network for the Pan-Amazon. He continues to be a theological adviser to CELAM and is active throughout Latin America as a consultant to national and regional Church bodies.
