Le Tour De Fred calls into Guildford and what great event is planned to welcome him? …

This June, 68-year-old Fred Uttley is cycled around all 22 dioceses of England and Wales for CAFOD. On the 21st of June Fred came to Guildford!

The volunteer from Salford diocese cycled more than 1,000 miles between Catholic churches and cathedrals around England and Wales, raising money to support small-scale farmers in Rajshahi, Bangladesh and raising awareness of CAFOD’s Hungry for Change campaign.

On Friday evening of the 21st of June, Aseel Gilbert and the Guildford youth groups, GYM and jGYM, hosted Fred for the evening, providing a meal, a quiz, a raffle and so much more.  Fred will arrive shortly after 7 where he was warmly welcomed. Fr Alex blessed the meal and we all ate heartily.

Fred spoke of how moved and amazed he was by the welcome and the welcome he had received elsewhere on the journey. He was an inspiration.

The event raised over £650 which is increadible. Thanks to all who came along and supported the event and to all the people who leant a hand. Special thanks to the family who provided the food, always one of the biggest ministries there can be!
